Kununurra; the Grizzled Beard of Australia

It’s dry, hot, remote, friendly, conservative, naive, sincere, unpretentious, wealthy and proud.  Kununurra is a weird place.

The landscape is awesome.   Huge, colourful, alien in its extremity.   I worked up there on a movie shoot for a few weeks and while I was there I took some photos.  Outback Australia is hard to get to, but its worth it.

(These salt plains are as hard as concrete in the dry season.)

(In Kununurra some stockmen still ride horses every day and sleep on the plains.)
