One of the crazy cool things about being a nomad in Australia is all the beautiful, hidden away camp sites I find everywhere I go.
This one is just off the Bruce Highway, on the banks of Barratta Creek, about 10 km NW of Ayr.
It’s free, unofficial, wilderness camping, accessible in a car or on a bike.
Shannon and I just saw the dirt track leading off from the road on the eastern side of the bridge.
We drove a few hundred metres off the highway, and found a pristine oasis.
We only camped here one night but we saw lots of wildlife, including kangaroos and a big turtle. There was some amazing plant life too!
Want to find it?
Here’s a couple of maps (the first one shows a grid ref.)
Follow dirt roads in Oz, and you’ll find plenty of other places just as amazing as this one.
