The first thing I observe about Calais is that it is raining hard.
The second thing I notice is the miserable looking refugee camps that stretch for miles along the shore, surrounded by barbed wire fences…

The Disneyland virgin must be deflowered. We get in the SUV and head out to Anaheim…
I met Bill in Morocco when I was hitchhiking to the Sahara. Now he’s decided we’re going on a road trip to Vegas together…
I get dropped off on the edge of town and walk down the road a bit to find a good hitchhiking pitch. There’s a sheriff’s cruiser parked on the side of the road. There isn’t a whole lot of traffic. I wonder if this guy gets bored sitting on the side of this lonely road all day…

In the dark ages of backpacking we carried heavy paperback books, to while away the weary hours. Now you can carry all the rainy-day entertainment you need on your phone. One of my favourite things to do when I’m bored is listen to podcasts…
One Australian, two Colombians and two Belgians go up a mountain to see a giant Jesus. On the way we listen to music and swap travel stories. The music sounds a bit like a hip-hop boy-band produced by Ricky Martin…
