“We’re heading out to Echo Lake. Do you want to go hiking?” Evan asks me.
I hesitate for a second. Normally my policy is to say yes to everything, but I am still recovering from the barbecue binge of the previous day, and my body feels more like easing into a deck chair and scrolling facebook than tramping into the Rocky Mountains.
But, I need the exercise, so I swap out my flip-flops for my hiking boots, make some peanut butter sandwiches and join the hiking expedition.
I’m so glad I overcame my laziness and barbecue hangover, because Echo Lake turned out to be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
And I walked on snow, which is always a novelty for an Aussie.
(‘Made it!’ Thanks for the pic Evan :-)
