Mouldy Goldy’ Blues – Gold Coast, Australia

image

We rock up to the Goldy’
Rollin’ down the road.
KC ‘n The Moonlight Band,
Lookin’ for bed and board.
We don’t got no money,
But we got the blues on be assured.

First stop is the beach reserve,
Gotta find a place to camp.
Ideally next to a BBQ,
And a slinky skate ramp.
Find a little clearing by the beach,
It’s the perfect Casa’ Del Tramp.

(chorus)
Rolling in the Goldy’,
What we gonna find?
Bud, blues, booze, and ladies,
Are high on my mi-ind!

We three hungry hobos,
Gotta get ourselves a feed.
A well stocked Woolies’ dumpster,
That’s what we need.
Well, Surfers Paradise don’t lock their bins,
We got two backpacks full of munchies,
We gonna eat like fuckin’ kings!

Take it:
Sausages, bacon, cakes, a steak and,
bread, grapes, muffins, pork roast and melons,
So easy to get a free feed,
We makin’ out like felons.
Why would you pay for this shit,
When you can dumpster dive it?
Yeah, now!

(chorus)
Rolling in the Goldy’,
What we gonna find?
Bud, blues, booze, and ladies,
Are high on my mi-ind!

Morning on the beach,
First sun I seen in days.
Gotta love Queensland weather,
I just chucked my jumper away.
The dog’s chasin’ sticks,
We chasin’ women,
Made a wad of cash just jammin’ for the evenin’
Tonight we gettin’ high,
Sittin’ round the fire shootin’ shit,
It’s a tough life for a hobo,
But, hell, someone gotta do it!

(chorus)
Rolling in the Goldy’,
What we gonna find?
Bud, blues, booze, and ladies,
Are high on my mi-ind!
High on my mi-ind!
Bud, blues, booze, and ladies,
Are high on m-y mi-i-i-ind!

(Above: the beach! Surfers Paradise. It’s been a while since Craig and I saw the sea, and we sure missed her. The temperature difference between New South Wales, and Victoria, down south, and sunny Queensland is remarkable and awesome! Swimming, sunbathing and bikini watching are back on the agenda! [KC is also looking forward to chasing driftwood and eating mouthfuls of sand, she says.])

(Below: Craig pining for a surfboard, the morning after we arrived on the Gold Coast. Lucky we found some boogey boards in the supermarket dumpsters last night!)

(Above: the dumpster diving on the Gold Coast is awesome! We are harvesting hundreds of dollars worth of fantastic food every night. Usually, the wealthier people are, the more wasteful their society is, and the Gold Coast is fucking decadent. Craig has his skateboard, and I got myself a scooter from K-mart, so we zoom in, load up, and then trundle our haul back to camp in a trolley. Good thing we get plenty of exercise or we would be big fat mofos in no time on this diet! ;-) )

(Below: we been jamming in Surfers Paradise every chance we get. Saturday night we made $180. Our new friend Tim (foreground) was pinging off his head and fell in love with KC! She gets so many groupies. [Thx for the pic Tim!])

(Below: Casa Del Tramp, Gold Coast: best hobo camp on the Gold Coast, my vagrant friends! Just off a walking track, right near the beach, and a ten minute skate from some of the best dumpster diving and busking opportunities around –
head for “The Spit”

BTW: check out my hot K-mart wheels! I can ride the scooter with my backpack on, or use it as a luggage trolley! And it folds in half for hitchhiking! Love it!)

(Above: dumpster diver cuisine! We call this one, BBQ-omelette-car-wreck! Delicious! Yay for free BBQ’s, Australia!)

(Below: I woke up this morning, with the rising sun, and there were three little birds, sitting on my doorstep. They were singing sweet songs, melodic, pure and true. They seemed to be saying to me “don’t worry about a thing, our human friend, every little thing is gonna be alright.”)

Hi i am wondering what areas were good for dumpster diving

    • Emmanuel Marshall

The hot spots are the underground loading bays of Coles and Woolworths! Look for the giant roller doors!
