Some experiences are iconic of a place.

Going to a yoga class in India.
Riding the Tube in London.
Trekking the desert on a camel in Morocco.

I think I had an iconic California experience last night.

Last night I witnessed Lil Wayne do a big mic drop on stage at the High Times Cup.
He got booed by some of the crowd!

It was as hot as fuck in that big metal shed. I felt like I was gonna pass out from the heat, and I wasn’t jumping around putting on a sick show like LW was. High times could have splurged and put a couple of fans on that stage hey?

Lil Wayne said something like: “Don’t ask me to do this again” to the backstage area, and then he thanked the audience respectfully, ditched the mic, and exited.

It was a short set.
But it was a tight performance.

But people booed.

That seemed kind of jerky, especially since it was basically a free show.

It feels like a symptom of people losing touch with what live performance is. Are we getting so VR we can’t understand what sort of energy it takes to get up on a stage and put on a show?

It was a short set. OK. But it was Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne rocks.
