La Hermosa Ciudad – Seville, Spain

Seville is an awesome city to photograph and camp in. Colorful, chaotic. Vibrant but not too big. A messy, energetic clash of African design and European decadence, with a flamenco rhythm.

Here are some photos I took of the city.  Plus, a free accommodation tip.

(Top: Catholocism in exextremis. This photo is in the Print Shop.)

(Catholic-a-rama. Massive shrines in one of Seville’s many spectacular churches. I snuck in while the priest wasn’t looking, but they chucked me out pretty quick.)

(Flamenco busker. Seville is all about flamenco.)

(Flamenco shoes.)

(Flamenco pastry..?)

(Ham. It’s very big in Seville.)

(Plaza De Espana: by night and by day.)

(Africa meets Europa: the famous mutated Seville Cathedral, once a Mosque.)

(Andalusian horses in their natural habitat. This is right next to my camp site near the southern suburb, Bellavista. One morning I woke up, rolled out of my bivvy, and these beautiful animals were just trotting past along the river bank.)

(Campers and trampers: this is a great spot to pitch your tent, just south of Seville. (I didn’t actually camp IN the water, but on the eastern bank). The river side is grassy and scattered with trees which provide good cover and firewood. You can catch the 37 bus to the city from the nearby Avenida de Bellavista.)
