Travelling with a dog is awesome. Travelling with a dog like KC, Craig’s red cattle dog, is super awesome!

Everyone I’ve ever met who’s hitchhiked with a canine said the same thing: “you get rides quicker if you got a dog with you.”
And it’s true! Dogs are the express tickets of hitchhiking. I think people trust dogs more than people. They see a dog standing beside a pair of hitchhikers and they figure “Hmm… Should I pick these two up? The dog is hanging out with them, and dogs are good judges of character… Well, I guess these guys must be OK, if the dog trusts them.”
Craig and I have hitched with KC for the last two months. We’re a travelling circus! Two guys, a guitar, a skateboard, a bike, and a moulting dog… getting rides in record time.
With KC along, nobody notices the way me and Craig smell either.

When we busk, KC sings along sometimes. Or she curls up in the guitar case and snoozes. Every girl who walks past practically swoons over the cute doggy. I think she earns more money than we do. She definitely gets more pats.
