Disneyland Virgin – VIDEO

Friday:

Bill insists that I cannot leave California without visiting Disneyland.
The Disneyland virgin must be deflowered.
We get in the SUV and head out to Anaheim.

Sat:

Bill drives me to LAX.

It’s hard to know what to say as we stand together on the curb outside the int departure terminal.
Bill has welcomed me into his family, lavished his hospitality and wisdom on me and shown me a California I never knew existed. And he’s cracked me up on the daily with his bizarre sense of humor.
I’m gonna miss him a lot, and I feel an enormous sense of gratitude, but it’s hard to put it in words when I’m on an airport driveway.
See you later amigo!
Happy trails.
Big hugs and much love.

The plane is packed and this seat was designed by a hobbit.
I’m hungry.
I’m thirsty.
I’ve got a cramp in my leg.
I want to get out of here.
I try and stretch my leg out a bit in the aisle.
The flight attendant smashes a refreshment cart into my kneecap. The pain in my knee momentarily takes my attention away from the claustrophobic horror of being stuck inside this flying cattle truck.
The refreshment cart dissapears up the aisle into business class.
Get me out! Oh fuck I can’t do this!
GET ME OUT!
The plane lurches backwards and begins to taxi away from the jetway.
Hang in there. I’ll be in Scotland in 24 hours.

Sunday:

Iceland. I’m surrounded by Iceland.
It’s four in the morning.
I have to use my fingers to blink. My eyelids are dried out so much by the filthy air plane air con that they get stuck in the down position and I have to lift them back up with my fingers.
I didn’t read the fine print as usual so I didn’t notice the bit on my ticket about the layover in Keflavik.
I had to look Keflavik up to find out what country I’m in.
Keflavik airport is very small. It’s basically one big room. There are floor to ceiling windows looking out over the landscape of Iceland. It is foggy and rocky and… foggy.
Four hours until my connecting flight.
I’m massively jet lagged and I haven’t even got to my destination.
I love flying so so much.

It’s a small world after all.
